Miss India is an once a year, countrywide beauty competition reserved in India and organized by Femina, a ladies's mag published by Bennett, Coleman & Corp . Ltd. The use of Miss India is in no way brandmark. Femina Miss India is still one of the extremely known and well observed competitions to supply World Beauty Queens.
Miss India has been taking part in the Miss Universe festival since 1953, starting with Indrani Rehman ; and in the Miss World festival since 1959, starting with Fleur Ezekiel. There is no clause that outlines the succeeder of Miss India [ or succeeder of a State Title ] cannot participate in the Miss World and Miss Universe festivals in the very year. From 1995, the exercise of choosing a single succeeder or "Miss India" was changed to instead elect members to the different global competitions. The three winners, who get equal prizes and status but are called Miss India winners, and are appointed Miss India World, Miss India Universe and Miss India Asia-Pacific.
As of 2002, the 3rd succeeder isn't be despatched to Miss Asia-Pacific, but to the Miss Earth festival, which is at present recognized as one of the three most prestigious beauty pageants in the planet [ in terms of size and identification ]. The Pantaloons Femina Miss India 2009 festival appeared to have hopped onto the Deccan Queen Express, though its path included a serious Delhi detour. The three winners were : PFMI Universe 2009 Ekta Chaudhary from Delhi, PFMI World 2009 Pooja Chopra from Pune and PFMI Earth 2009 Shriya Kishore from Mumbai. This year, the conventional pecking order of the titles was given a change : PFMI Universe and PFMI World shared top honorsboth are No. 1—and were followed by PFMI Earth. Aflush with excitement, the UWE trio asserted they were dying to fall on chocolates and home made food and one expounded that all she wished to do was "hug mom". Simply the most predicted look fest of the year, the PFMI culmination was held in the open-air setting of the Andheri Sports Complicated on Sunday evening. The venue was packed out with only standing room at the rear. The common query posed to the three finalists was: What was the one thing you would ask God if you met him, and why? All three were sincerity personified in their replies. Chopra, who has been brought up by a single mom, stated that she would ask why certain kids were impoverished of the love of a mummy. The enthusiastic 23-year-old, with a relish for kickboxing and parasailing, also cited the much-flogged Mummy's Day line that since God could not be everyplace, he made mummies. Choudhary, also 23, who has given up a advanced degree in business administration, said she would ask the mighty why, if we had all been created equal, we fought each other in his name. The 3rd girl, Kishore, a 22-year-old from the Mumbai suburbia of Kandivli, who is awaiting her hotel management degree, wrestled with the issue of fatality rate, but in a rather confused way. The new beauties were crowned by last year's title holders, PFMI World 2008 and Miss World first runner-up Parvathy Omanakuttan, PFMI Universe 2008 Simran Kaur Mundi and PFMI Earth 2008 Tanvi Vyas. One of this year's finalists was Harshita Saxena from Goa, who was disqualified last year after she won the PFMI Earth crown because of her contractual duties to a rival show. The re-try showed lucky and Saxena, who was among the last five standing, also took the Agile Femina Miss 10 title.
The regal gold crowns for the winners were created by the World Gold Council and D'damas and presented by Collection g; crowns designed on a sun-moon-star theme [ sun for pride and grace, moon for exquisiteness and sensualism and star for surprise and blind ].
